Dr. Alter UK is designed around one principle – bringing Savile Row precision and bespoke craftsmanship directly to your wardrobe at our 49 Tottenham Court Road shop.

Visit or Book a Fitting Room
Walk in to 49 Tottenham Court Road at your convenience, or book an appointment online to secure your preferred time.

Anatomical Fitting & Chalking
Our master tailor observes your posture, shoulder slope, and natural stance before marking alterations with tailor chalk and pins.

Internal Deconstruction & Bench Tailoring
We take apart seams from the inside, recut fabrics, adjust floating canvases, and hand-sew buttonholes to retain original balance.

Hand Steam Pressing & Quality Inspection
Every piece is shaped using curved tailor hams and high-pressure steam presses, followed by an exhaustive inspection against our ISO 9001 standards.

Try-On Collection or Courier Return
Try on your garments in our fitting suite. If you cannot return to collect, we package your items on wooden hangers and deliver via insured courier.

What to prepare
- The garments you want altered - washed and in reasonable condition
- The shoes you plan to wear with each garment, particularly for trouser and dress hems
- Any specific instructions - preferred trouser break, dress length, jacket fit
- A clear space to try on garments - a full-length mirror is helpful but not essential

Frequently asked
Do I need to be home for the collection and return?
Yes – someone needs to be present at both the fitting appointment and the return delivery. If you cannot be present for the return, we can arrange an alternative collection point or a second delivery attempt.
Can I add garments after the fitting appointment?
Additional garments can be added to your order – contact us after the fitting and we will discuss whether another visit is needed or whether items can be dropped off at an agreed point.
What if I am not happy with the alteration?
Dr. Alter will correct any alteration that does not match what was agreed at the fitting at no additional charge. We ask you to try the garments upon return and contact us within 48 hours if any adjustment is needed.
Can you come to my hotel room in London?
Yes – hotel fittings are available. We serve guests at hotels across Central London. Book as normal and specify the hotel name and room number at the time of booking.
How far in advance should I book?
For standard alterations, booking 5-7 days ahead of when you need the garments is ideal. For urgent or time-sensitive work, contact us directly – express slots may be available.
